Position: Medical Oncologist


Location: Owerri, Imo State.

Job Description
  • Orders several diagnostic testing which includes biopsy, imaging procedures and blood test so as to achieve a specific diagnosis.
  • Reviews test results and determine the stage as well as the type of cancer.
  • Provide patient with detailed information regarding cancer, the prognosis of the disease and possible interventions or treatment options that the patient may undergo.
  • Monitor patients starting from their diagnosis until the entire process of treatment.
  • Will be responsible in developing treatment plans according to a great number of factors which covers the nature and type of cancer as well as patient’s preferences.
  • As part of the monitoring process, success candidate will be required to frequently orders diagnostic test in order to know whether the patient is progressing or if the treatment is effective or not.
  • Ensure the patient feels comfortable through treating their pain and managing any side-effects of the chemotherapy given.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, (MBBS),
  • Fellowship, West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience

Job Description
  • Studies human tissue to provide data to delineate cause and progress of disease that impairs body function: Trains and oversees laboratory personnel in preparing tissue sections or prepares tissue sections from surgical and diagnostic cases and autopsies.
  • Examines tissue under microscope to detect characteristics of cell structure indicative of disease and writes diagnostic reports.
  • Devises and directs use of special stains and methods for isolating, identifying, and studying function, morphology, and pathology of obscure or difficult-to-identify cells, tissues, and connecting fibers.
  • May conduct autopsies to select tissue specimens for study.
  • May engage in research to develop techniques for diagnosing and identifying pathological conditions.
  • May study anatomy of body tissues, formation of organs, and related problems to obtain data on body functions.

Position: Radiation Oncologist

Location: Owerri, Imo

Job Description
  • See a broad spectrum of patients, in order of presentation of assignment with an emphasis on quality of patient evaluation and care.
  • Perform the initial assessment of the patient and actively participate in all aspects of patient care, including history and physical, diagnostic and therapeutic planning, procedures, writing orders, and interactions with the patient’s family.
  • In-depth discussion of all cases with the attending prior to initiation of all but the most basic diagnostic studies or therapeutic interventions.
  • Responsible to be familiar with patients and serve as the attending’s principal resource for day- by-day patient data.
  • Responsible for supervising both interns and students.
  • Emphasis on gaining experience with a full spectrum of procedures, honing proficiency, and balancing quality of patient evaluation and care with improved overall efficiency.
  • May initiate common diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions in straight-forward patients.
  • Decisions regarding invasive procedures, change in plans, discharge.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Play supervisory role with increased teaching, consultative, and research activities.
  • Continue to see a broad spectrum of patients, but with emphasis on those with the highest acuity or greatest critical illness.
  • Must discuss all cases with the Head of Team prior to disposition decisions.
  • May initiate common diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions prior to attending discussion.
  • May also initiate more sophisticated diagnostic studies and therapeutic
