Senior Programme Coordinator (Health) at Christian Aid

Christian Aid is working with others to end poverty in Africa. At the heart of this vision is
transformation of the lives of people who live in poverty, empowering them to have a brighter future. The Nigeria Country Program presently focuses on Community Health and HIV, Accountable Governance and Gender. In partnership with a wide range of international and local organizations, Christian Aid conducts research, builds capacity, and provides technical assistance to CBOs, CSOs and other organizations across the five states including the FCT. Our Community Health and HIV Program have evolved over the past years to support partners and communities to exercise their rights to health and related services using appropriate, integrated, context specific, scalable and transformative health approaches to health service access, provision and utilization through health promotion & education and health governance.

About the role
To be responsible for supporting and managing Christian Aid partnerships and programmes as well as the effective disbursement of funds to Christian Aid partners working on the programme including recommending grants to partners. Role will contribute to the design, development and implementation of specific health projects including the integrated community case management (iCCM) that aligns with the overall Christian Aid strategy for Community Health. The role will engage with and promote advocacy, communications and fundraising within the organization, including institutional donors. The role is based in Abuja with frequent travels and is responsible for strengthening capacity of implementing partners to respond to and support Christian Aid’s health project outcomes

About you
The post holder must have a degree preferably in sciences (Medicine, Pharmacy) or any related field with strong proposal design and project management skills. A postgraduate degree in international development or public health is an added advantage. S/he must have at least 3 years’ experience of working with indigenous partners and strengthening health system and implementing health development projects. S/he must have extensive understanding of the national response to health care delivery and broader health policies with particular experience in integrated community case management of childhood illnesses and maternal and child health interventions including sexual and reproductive health. S/he must also have experience in managing institutional donors such as Global Fund, DfID, USAID, EU and the private sector. They must demonstrate knowledge and competency in resilience, gender-sensitive and inclusive programming and have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent Christian Aid at the national, state and local levels.

What recommendations or decisions did you have to take? What was your particular task or responsibility? What actions did you take? How did you analyse the information and data? What was the outcome? Were you successful?
