Médecins du Monde or Doctors of the World, is an international humanitarian non-profit organization that provides emergency and long-term medical care to vulnerable populations while advocating for equal access to healthcare worldwide.




Location: Maiduguri, with regular visits to Abuja
Starting date: February, 2018.
Supervisor Line Manager: Health Program Coordinator
Duration: 6 to 9 months  
Contract: Fixed-term

Responsibilities
  • Under the direct supervision of the medical coordinator, you are responsible for the implementation of quality services in the field.
  • You manage the operational and technical aspects of the implementation of primary health care and sexual and reproductive health services, as well as the community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) programme.
More specifically, your responsibilities are to:
  • Support the medical team in all aspects to ensure smooth running of the project activities
  • Ensure good coordination of field teams with other actors (community leaders, INGOs, UN, government and stakeholders) in the same area
  • Directly manage the team of medical and community outreach supervisors and expatriate technical advisors/trainers
  • Ensure use and respect of medical protocols
  • Ensure the implementation of on- job trainings sessions by expatriates towards national staff and conduct specific trainings when appropriate
  • Ensure reporting data and communication from daily health activities & pharmaceutical data
  • Participate in establishing/improving referral system, provide input into policy and protocol development
  • Participate in the recruitment process of clinic staff and other medical staff
  • Ensure that medical and paramedics staff of clinics respect their assigned tasks and MdM procedures
  • Supervise drugs stock management in clinics, implementing MdM pharmaceutical policies and closely liaising with the pharmacist
  • Manage leave requests, evaluations, and quality of outputs of all supervised staff
  • Authorise weekly activity plans from each trainer
  • Support the smooth running of the operations in the field, ensure good communication between health national staff, medical supervisors and trainers
  • Prepare a weekly activities report, compile epidemiological reports
  • Participate in internal meetings and external medical meetings upon request
Requirements
  • Significant experience in public health and/or project coordination in a humanitarian context
  • Experience in supervising health promotion activities
  • Experience in working with local authorities, partners
  • Ability to manage a multi-national team and to have a global overview of a program
  • Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability
  • Good writing, computer and communication skills
  • Capacity to work and to live in tense conditions
  • Languages: fluent English is required
  • French is an asset
