Job description
The Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist is expected to coordinate, monitor, supervise, and also carry out lab investigations according to accepted standards stipulated by the MLSCN and meets the demands of all other international best practices.
Input, process and retrieve laboratory results using an electronic medical software or any other IT application or procedure as our services and standard may necessitate per time.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Coordinate and supervise junior lab scientists and technicians.
  • Discharge of medical laboratory duties, with utmost carefulness and precision.
  • Attending to and receiving samples based on the terms of the employment or when need be.
  • Adhering to the laboratory guidelines, standards and work ethics of Havana Specialist Hospital
  • Preparation of culture plates.
  • Routine examination of culture and sensitivity plates.
  • Authorization of lab results before they are released.
  • Working with Lab HOD towards building an effective relationship between the Lab and all other arms of the hospital.
  • Constantly growing and adopting latest developments, skills/techniques as the demands of the job change with time
  • Carrying out any other reasonable task towards the development of the lab as occasion/emergency may necessitate.
  • Guiding, assisting and contributing to the training of Lab student interns
  • Routine examination of Industrial training students and other trainees for appraisal of their performance and making subsequent report to the hospital management as the need may arise.
Job Requirement
  • Minimum of Bachelors’ Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Science from a reputable institution.
  • Licensed member of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
  • Excellent communication ability in English Language.
  • Basic computer literacy/usability of day-to-day data entry, analyses and processing tools such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn fast and adapt to new environment.
  • Minimum 4 years’ Experience of working as a certified medical laboratory scientist.
